Enjoy
the freshest coffee ever by roasting at home with the Alpenrost
from Swissmar!
Why
Alpenroast at home?
What
most people do not know is that coffee begins to lose flavor
almost immediately after it is roasted. After a few days,
as much as 15-40% of the flavor is lost. No wonder, then,
true coffee aficionados are turning more and more to home
roasting. They are roasting and blending their own FRESH
ROASTED coffee beans. The Alpenrost rotary drum coffee roaster
has been developed, after years of extensive research, so that
anyone can custom roast their own green coffee beans, using the
same basic principles used by commercial roasters.
Characteristics
of the Alpenrost: compared to the hot air roasters, the
Alpenrost drum roaster has slower roasting times and produces a
mellower, fuller bodied coffee. Capacity is 8 oz by weight
(others measure by volume). Varying batch size and time can vary
the flavor - good for those who like to experiment.

Why
choose the ALPENRöST Coffee Roaster?
- The
ALPENRöST is the only consumer oriented rotary drum roaster
on the market, making use of the same process used by most
professional roasters. With its computer controlled
'microprocessor', the ALPENRöST produces a consistent roast
each and every time. After its predetermined roast cycle,
there are 15 settings on the ALPENRöST ranging from a light
cinnamon roast to a dark French roast, the unit
automatically engages into its 'cool down' mode to stop the
roast. This 'cool down' procedure is crucial to ensuring a
consistent roast each and every time. Once the roasting and
'cool down' `cycles are complete, the beans are expelled
into the bean cup, ready for immediate use.
- With
the ALPENRöST you can roast a 1/2 lb. (8 oz. / 225 grams)
of green coffee beans; (enough to last an average family for
a week to ten days).
- It
takes between 16 and 20 minutes to roast coffee beans using
the ALPENRöST. The lighter the roast, the shorter the
time... the darker the roast, the longer the time, with the
roasting time dependant on the type of bean.
- The
ALPENRöST has 15 different preset roasting cycles, with 1
being the lightest and 15 being the darkest. The time
between each cycle is predetermined, with an 8 setting being
a medium roast for the most common coffee beans.
- Simply
fills the bean cup with the desired amount of green beans
(up to a 1/2 lb. / 8 oz. / 225 grams), closes the lid,
select the desired roast and push the green 'on' button.
Then walk away from the ALPENRöST and return approximately
20 minutes later to fresh roasted coffee beans... ready for
immediate use. The ALPENRöST is so versatile that the user
can adjust for virtually any type of roast, green bean
variety or blend, humidity, altitude, etc.
- There
are really only four components that require cleaning after
roasting... the roasting drum, the chaff collector tray, the
bean cup and the ventilation port. The roasting drum is made
of stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. The bean cup and
ventilation port are made of polypropylene and are also
dishwasher safe. The chaff tray is simply removed, like the
crumb tray in a toaster, dumped and replaced. Occasional
cleaning of the damper doors at the rear of the roasting
chamber is also required.
- The
ALPENRöST can be plugged into any typical household outlet
(120V 15A circuit). The unit draws only 1000 watts of power,
compared to most conventional hair dryers that draw about
1500 watts.
- The
ALPENRöST can pay for itself in green bean savings!
